so imagine jim lehrer that in debate hall. he can't cut anybody's microphone and he's dealing with the president of the united states and another guy who is gutsy enough to try and take the job. and he's supposed to control these guys and do that in an untested format designed to be loose and open-ended and sort of free flowing? shoot, i don't care what the critics say, jim lehrer did what any moderator would have done in that situation. the best he could. anita. >> thank you, derek. >>> rats, roaches, mice, you name it, we've got it in tonight's food alert. just wait until you see what our cameras found inside a restaurant that claimed hat cleaned up. from dupont circle to bethesda and into arlington, here's investigative reporter russ ptacek. >> reporter: instinctively we know roaches are wrong, right? food safety managers are required in restaurants because they're trained to watch out for other risks like food in the temperature danger zone, that's cold food above 41 degrees or heated food falling below 1406789 it's not ro

jim acosta, jim, thanks for me there in denver. and we showed you mitt romney, that clip and that pretty contentious debate from late last year. for the president, though, you have to reach back to 2008 to get a hint of his debate demeanor. check this out with me. first, with hillary clinton at the time obama's rival for the democratic nomination for president. >> set of assertions made by senator clinton as well as her husband that are not factually accurate. and -- >> you like to pretend like the war started in 2007. you talk about the surge, the war started in 2003. and the -- and at the time, when the war started, you said it was going to be quick and easy you said you knew where the weapons of mass destruction were, you were wrong. >> so that was a little taste for you on how the president goes into attack mode. jessica yellin, chief white house correspondent, also out there in denver for us. there is all this talk about, you know, what romney's challenge is going into tonight's debate. but what about the president? what about

two-minute statements, they're each going to get two minutes at the beginning of the subjects that jim leherer will introduce. and discussing not policing 30-second rebuttals and 60-second statements. none of that red light stuff with the clocks and all of that stuff. and when you're in mitt romney's position, where he's actually trying to hide some things, trying to hide the details of the deduction side of his tax plan, he's still hiding his tax returns. when you're that candidate who has things that you don't want to talk about, those very narrow rules are your friend. the red light is your friend. the very limited 30-second response, 60-second response works well for candidate who trying to dodge and trying to get away from things. president obama, i think is going to have an advantage in the way the non-rules are in this debate tonight. and i also think that mitt romney has come off a series of really easy debates. we have to remember, mitt romney triumphed in a republican presidential field that was the worst republican presidential field in the history of the republican party. t

i am not jim lehrer. allow me. please. i am not barack obama. >> he clearly has control. >> the fact is, the some jobs number will not make a difference. the difference will be what barack obama does in the next half for the next two rounds that he has. it was a very poor performance. you have to give credit to mitt romney who was on his game. some of what you said very is the truth, but that is neither here nor there. >> on jobs, when the economy -- president said the economy created 5 million jobs, is that true? >> i do not know. these numbers are so squishy, it is not 100% clear to me who is right about jobs. when i know is what they were saying on friday morning when they released those numbers. for the first time, more people who were out of the work force were getting jobs, and that is news. >> it is also import to keep in mind who has been hard hit by the economy. largely younger americans, african-americans, and hispanics. either those who would not vote or are supporting president obama. so i think you have got a

the criticism of jim lehrer is off base. i noticed in the debate from top to time, obama weblog to him as if to say, help me, jim. that was not jim lehrer's role. >> in that case, the candidates should simply ask each other questions. >> let me ask you about donna brown states. as of friday, realclearpolitics average, obama, 7.6 in watching -- wisconsin been in pennsylvania, 10. new hampshire, six. ohio, 5.5. virginia, 3.5. will those numbers change? >> i think he was a tightening of the race. certainly, florida and virginia will be competitive. the problem is ohio. no republican has ever won the white house without winning ohio. there is a path to do it, but it is so narrow to get to 270 without ohio. he has a class problem in ohio. it is hard for him to relate to working-class voters there, who by the way, are not thrilled about obama, but as mike huckabee said, romney reminds them of the guy that fire them. that is a problem. >> if you look at the day-by-day poll, the post-debate members, each category, with the governmen
